개인주의적으로 변해가는 현시대에, 사회발전의 본질적인 근원인 이해와 화합을 바라는 마음으로 전시를 기획했습니다. 개인은 사회에 소속되어 어우러질 수밖에 없기에 나의 행복을 추구할 때 사회라는 틀을 염두에 두어 남과 우호적인 관계로 나아가는 세상을 그려보며 작업했습니다. 갈수록 다름에 대한 경계와 혐오가 만연하는 세상속에서, 나에 앞서 남을 받아들이고 다름을 이해하려는 마음가짐을 가지면 모두가 바라는 이상적인 사회를 이룰 수 있지 않을까 합니다. 다름을 포용하고 서로 이해하며 화합하는 세상에 대한 이상, 다름을 받아들일 때의 인내의 자세 등을 작업기법, 과정, 작품 형태와 색으로 표현하고 싶습니다.

수용(Acceptance): 나와 다름을 받아들이는 과정은 작품을 만드는 과정과 흡사하다. 모든 사람이 수양하는 자세로 인내와 끈기를 가지고 서서히, 섬세한 헤아림으로 다름을 포용했으면 한다. 색소지를 사용하여 A에서 B로 색이 변해가는 gradation 기법은 나와 다른 남을 내 일부로 받아들이는 과정과 하나가 되려는 의지를 표현한다. 상반되는 색/보색 대비를 통해 다름이 서로를 빛내는 촉매가 될수있다는 개념을 전달하고싶다

화합(Cooperation): 작품을 만드는 unit과 double layer 기법은 개인의 화합/나와 남의 화합을 통해 굳건한 사회를 이루는 개념을 표현한다. 작은 unit, 즉 작은 개개인의 얽히고 연결되는 화합은 전체, 즉 사회를 튼튼히 다진다. 색소지를 사용한 다양한 색의 unit layer를 통해 다름 (인종, 정치성향 등)의 화합으로 아름답게 이루어진 사회를 표현하고싶다.

희망(Potential): 다양한 밝기와 다른 단계의 꽃조명 작품을 통해, 아직 완연한 형태가 아니더라도 세상에 꽃피우기 전의 모든 과정은 가능성 자체로 아름답다는 것을 알리고싶다. 모든 과정에는 가능성이 잠재돼있고, 이루어지리라는 믿음이 있는 한 희망은 지속될 수 있다. ■ 이승원

I want to convey a desire for an altruistic acceptance of another, and the patience/perseverance it takes to accept differences. I dream a society willing to embrace instead of reject, and integrate rather than separate. ● Acceptance: The process of making my work conveys the patience and perseverance it takes to accept another. The gradation of having one hue change to another within a piece refers to the process and willingness of allowing someone/something in, thus accepting and incorporating it into one's life. Contrast of different colors/complementary pieces pinpoint differences can become a catalyst that brings upon greater beauty. ● Cooperation: The methodology in making my work is a metaphor for how interconnection and cooperation of individuals yield a sturdier society. The double layers that consist the exterior of my piece can refer to opposites/dualities intermingling and cooperating, which result in stability and sturdiness. The variation of colors within a piece reflects the beauty of different cultures/entities uniting. ● Potential: Using variation in brightness and degrees of bloom, I want to convey through my light pieces that beauty exists in all stages of life, regardless of how it appears in fruition. I believe every stage one walks through has a spark of potential, and as long as you hold on to it and believe in the big picture, hope will always exist. ■ LEESEUNGWON
