나는 쇼핑을 즐기며 사 모은, 발견된 오브제들(Found objects)이 우연히 만든 '싱거운 이야기'로 내 내면의 욕망을 뻔뻔스럽게 더듬어보고 있다.

나의 쇼핑 오브제들 (My Shopping Objects)은 날것, 사진이미지, 텍스트로 공간에서 타인의 눈을 기다린다.

수시로 여기 저기 쇼핑몰을 배회하는 나를 발견한다. '다이소'에 가서 이것저것 팔리고 싶어 하는 생활용품을 만지작거리는 나는 마냥 즐거워하고 있다. 좀 이쁘다 싶은 것은 물론, 조악하고 나에게 별 쓸모없는 것조차도 무턱대고 사 모은다. 이상한 지름신이 강림하시어 컴퓨터를 켜고 '에누리닷컴', '다나와닷컴', '와싸다장터' 등에서 신품, 중고 가리지 않고 인터넷 쇼핑을 하며 시간 가는 줄 모르는 나를 문득 문득 발견하곤 한다.

게걸스럽게 사 모은 생활 용품들이 작업실에 쌓이고 그들은 나에게 넌지시 속삭인다. "나 이렇게 해줘" 그들이 요구한대로 나는 그들의,

사실은 나의 이야기를 슬금슬금 만들어간다. 사소한 사물들이 나의 쇼핑 오브제(My Shopping objects)가 되기까지 ■ 최성원

I shamelessly grabble around in my desires deep down with "silly stories" made spontaneously by found objects, which are a result of my indulgence in shopping. My Shopping Objects await the eyes of strangers in the space, as raw items, photographic images or text. ● I often find myself wandering about in various shopping malls. It is my absolute delight to visit "Daiso" and fiddle with the all the items of daily use, so eager to be bought. I recklessly purchase not only the charming, but also the crude things that I have little use for. Every now and then I suddenly discover myself on a strange buying spree, losing track of time and indiscriminately shopping for new and used goods on the internet, at venues such as "enuri.com," "danawa.com" and "wassada.com." ● The various household items I greedily gathered accumulate in my studio, and quietly whisper to me: "Do this for me." According to their demands, I create their stories―actually my stories―bit by bit. Until the trifling objects become My Shopping Objects... ■ CHOI, SUNGWON
